Playa del Carmen offers a lot of different dive sites, most of the coral reefs are right in front of the beach. Although close to shore, the dive sites are only accessible by boat. The reefs are home to a variety of animal species, during your dive you will usually see lobsters, groupers, morays, stingrays and many colorful fish. We often come across sea turtles hanging by the reef and if you’re lucky you might see an octopus. If you look closely you might spot smaller creatures like seahorses hiding among the corals. During the winter months you might encounter spotted eagle rays and maybe even a bull shark. Playa has a pleasant water temperature and good visibility all year round.
