What is the Rescue Diver Course?

The PADI Rescue Diver Course may be the most important dive course you can take. Building on what you have already learned, this course focuses on how to prevent problems in the water and it prepares you to deal with minor and major dive emergencies, using a variety of techniques. The practical skills you’ll learn will make you a more confident diver and you will have much more control underwater. In addition, you will learn to become a better dive buddy by being more attentive underwater, practicing problem solving skills, effectively manage diving accident situations, perform diver assists and rescues, and render first aid. Most importantly, rescue training can help you to save lives. Most divers find this course to be one of the most challenging, yet most rewarding courses they've ever taken, turning the serious topics of accident prevention and emergency management into fun.

How do we do it?

The course starts with 5 modules of theory instruction, including the psychological aspect of a rescue situation, the "stop, think, act" method, and the practicalities of managing an emergency situation.

At the pool training you’ll learn and practice all the basics skills that a Rescue Diver has to know, these include:

Self-rescue

Recognizing and managing stress or problems in other divers

Rescuing panicked divers

Rescuing unresponsive divers

How to manage an emergency

For the most challenging yet fun part of the course we do four Open Water dives at sea to practice your skills while performing rescue scenarios in real conditions, and you and your buddies get the chance to show off your award-winning Hollywood skills.
