What is the DSD course?

The Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) Course is a quick and easy introduction to diving. It's not a certification but a one day program that allows you to have a Scuba Diving experience during your vacations without losing valuable days on a course. This program is a short introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world. We'll teach you the basics of diving in a pool and then we take you to some of the most beautiful (shallow) coral reefs in the Riviera Maya to discover the underwater world.

How do we do it?

In just one day we will teach you the basics of diving. We start in the pool in the morning, there you will get an explanation about the equipment and then we enter the water where you will discover for the first time what it feels like to breathe underwater through the diving equipment. In the pool we teach you the most important skills so you know how everything works and what you have to do, and you'll also do some exercises to feel comfortable underwater. In the afternoon we take you on a boat trip to a coral reef with a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet) for 2 beautiful dives, always under the supervision of a certified instructor.

DSD in Playa del Carmen         $2900 MXN

We gather in the dive shop in the morning where we select and try on the diving equipment and then we go to the pool for the exercises. In the afternoon we board the boat (the average duration of the boat trip is only 5 minutes) and do 2 dives in the coral reef off the coast of Playa del Carmen, with a maximum depth of 12 meters /40 feet. The average duration of each dive is 45 minutes.

DSD at Isla Mujeres                   $3300 MXN

We drive to Cancun, where we do the basic explanation and exercises at a small pool in the marina. Then we get on the boat, we make a beautiful boat trip of about 30 minutes that first rides through the Nichupté lagoon and the mangroves, and then we go out into the open sea. We make 2 dives in the beautiful turquoise water of the island of Isla Mujeres. The first dive is at the Underwater Museum (MUSA), and the second dive at the coral reef. The coral reef at Isla Mujeres is one of the most beautiful reefs in the region, there is a lot of life, it is colorful and there are lots of fish.

DSD in an Open Cenote        $3000 MXN p.p.

Beautiful Casa Cenote is located South of Playa del Carmen, near Tulum. This is a so-called 'open cenote', so you don't go underground or into a cave. The open cenotes get a good amount of sunlight, which means that many plants are able to grow there, and therefore lots of fish and other animals such as crabs swim and walk around. The main attraction of Casa Cenote is "resident crocodile" Panchito, who usually chills in the sun in his permanent spot, but sometimes he also goes for a swim around "his cenote". We do the basic exercises in the shallow end. And then the adventure starts right away: we make a tour through the cenote. When Panchito is there we will of course also go and say hi to him.
