Enjoy a hidden gem in paradise: Isla Contoy
A natural island escape
Imagine this: a pristine island where nature runs wild, surrounded by turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. A place where only 200 lucky visitors are allowed each day. This paradise actually exists! It’s called Isla Contoy – a protected nature reserve and one of Mexico’s best-kept secrets. And with our exclusive tour, you’ll experience this uninhabited gem in the best possible way.

Paradise all to yourself
Our comfortable boat departs early in the morning, allowing us to reach Isla Contoy well before the other boats arrive. This means we get to enjoy the island almost entirely to ourselves for about an hour – a rare opportunity to soak in the beauty and magic of this place in complete tranquility. And, of course, to go all out with your Instagram photo shoot.
A world of nature and wildlife
Isla Contoy is a true paradise for nature lovers. There is no fresh water on the island, so no mammals can live there. As a result, other species flourish. Over 150 different bird species call the island home, including thousands of frigatebirds, a pair of ospreys, pelicans that put on an impressive fishing show right in front of you, and if you're lucky, even flamingos or the equally brightly colored roseate spoonbills.
Along the coastline, you’ll see stunning yellow and orange starfish in the water, and sometimes there will be stingrays gliding by. A bit further out, you might spot sea turtles calmly swimming through the clear water, occasionally coming up for air.
The island is also home to various reptiles and countless hermit crabs.

On the island itself, you’ll find a fascinating mix of mangroves, dunes, and palm trees – the perfect backdrop for our guided tour. As passionate guides, we’ll take you on an exploration of the island, sharing all kinds of facts about the unique flora and fauna of this special nature reserve.
Rules to protect paradise
Because Isla Contoy is a protected nature reserve and national park, strict rules are in place to preserve its fragile ecosystem. Visitors are not allowed to use sunscreen, as it’s harmful to coral and marine life. We recommend wearing rash guards (lycra swim shirts) or other light, protective clothing. Don’t forget to bring a hat or cap.
It is, of course, forbidden to take any shells, stones, or plants from the island. Smoking and vaping are not allowed on the island or on the boat. Drones and music are also prohibited to respect the peace of the animals and other visitors.
By following these rules, we help ensure Isla Contoy remains a paradise for generations to come.

A delicious lunch with a view
Around midday, it’s time to enjoy one of the highlights of the day: a delicious lunch, freshly prepared on the spot by our crew. Expect freshly grilled fish and chicken, rice, guacamole, and fresh fruit for dessert – all with a breathtaking view over the turquoise sea.

Snorkeling at the coral reef
On our way back to Isla Mujeres, we’ll stop at a beautiful coral reef (weather permitting) for a snorkeling session. This reef marks the start of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef – the second largest reef in the world. It’s a vital ecosystem and a sanctuary for countless marine species. The underwater world here is stunning: colorful fish, vibrant corals, and maybe even a nurse shark snoozing under a rock. We’ll definitely keep our eyes open for sea turtles. It’s an unforgettable experience!
Chilling at Playa Norte
As the cherry on top, we’ll anchor off the coast of the world-famous Playa Norte, one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico.
Here you can relax in the crystal-clear, shallow water with a refreshing drink in hand, while reflecting on a perfect day full of adventure and natural beauty.
On board of our boat, we have an open bar with water, soft drinks, tequila, and beer.
